On the Apple Trail – be active on holiday near Bressanone/Brixen

You will need a good five hours of a day on holiday in Bressanone/Brixen for the moderately difficult Valle Isarco/Eisacktal Wine and Apple Trail. The starting point is Bressanone/Brixen's historic district of Stufles/Stufels east of the Adlerbrücke bridge. Alternatively, you can walk the path in sections, e.g. from Naz/Natz to Raas and back again. This hike is particularly worthwhile during the apple blossom season (April and May). But even in early or late summer, the Apple Trail is a highlight for holidaymakers near Bressanone/Brixen!

Hiking tip for your holiday in Bressanone/Brixen and the surrounding area: the Wine Trail

One of the probably most beautiful hikes on holiday near Bressanone/Brixen is the three-hour easy hike along the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal Wine Trail. The trail leads from the Abbazia di Novacella/Neustift monastery through picturesque vineyards to Bressanone/Brixen town centre. Tip: Treat yourself to a little refreshment and a good glass of wine in one of the many taverns or inns along the way!

As for most hikes in the Bressanone/Brixen area, spring and autumn are the ideal hiking seasons for the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal Keschtnweg (South Tyrolean dialect for chestnut trail). The entire Valle Isarco/Eisacktal “Keschtnweg” leads from Novacella/Neustift to Castel Roncolo/Schloss Runkelstein in Bolzano/Bozen and can be completed in four stages. The first stage of the trail leads from Novacella/Neustift to Velturno/Feldthurns. A culinary holiday near Bressanone/Brixen: Törggelen in autumn

In autumn we recommend that holidaymakers near Bressanone/Brixen combine the Chestnut Trail with Törggelen. A typical Törggele meal is served with local delicacies such as cabbage, dumplings, smoked meat and sausages, followed by sweet doughnuts and roasted chestnuts. New wine is traditionally drunk with this.
